Grants for US Citizens
In partnership with the Brazilian government, Fulbright offers fellowships to recent graduates, master’s and doctoral candidates for up to one academic year. Opportunities are also available for early and mid-career scholars with significant publishing and teaching record. Preference will be given to candidates without substantial prior experience in Brazil, regardless of how advanced in their careers they may be. Portuguese language skills, or another Romance language, are desired, although not a requirement.
On behalf of the United States Department of State, the Institute of International Education (IIE) administers the Fulbright Scholar Program and the Fulbright Student Program.
Study / Research Grant
Grantees typically conduct their studies/research projects or professional training while gaining international experience during their nine-month academic exchange.
Postdoctoral Research Award in Natural Sciences
Postdocs will develop their own research while delivering seminars and mentoring students for up to nine months.
All Disciplines Award
Grantees may conduct independent or collaborative research, teach graduate courses, or combine both activities at universities or research institutes.
Distinguished Chair in Stem+C in Recife, Pernambuco
Co-funded by the State Science Foundation, grantee will develop research and teach graduate/undergraduate courses.
Distinguished Chair in International Relations at USP
The most prestigious Brazilian university will host one scholar for research and lecturing at the Institute of International Relations.
Distinguished Chair in Public Policy at FUNDAJ
Co-funded by Joaquim Nabuco Foundation (FUNDAJ), the scholar will conduct research and teaching activities.
